Subject: Hidden Village in Las Montañas, Visit from Elder Casillas

 ¿Qué lo que everybody???

It was an absolutely solid week, honestly probably the best week of the mission so far.  We started the week off with a 2 day conference with Elder Casillas of the Seventy. The conference was so powerful I don't even think I can describe it adequately. When we first got news a week ago that a special visitor would be coming, we all thought it would be an apostle maybe even President Nelson haha. And when we found out that it was gonna be a seventy we were all bummed haha. But after that conference I can say that the opportunity to talk with and be counseled by any individual called of God is a super special privilege. I had never even heard of Elder Casillas but he spoke with power, authority, and the Spirit. Throughout the whole meeting we could just feel the Spirit coming like waves, everything he said was exactly what we needed to hear and what we needed to be taught. I could go on for a while about that conference, I know for a fact it will legitimately influence me for the rest of my mission, but there's a lot of things I want to touch on this week and I'm gonna try to keep this email a decent length.

This week we found this village called Los Anisales. It's in the mountains, like most of our investigators, but it's like 30 minutes off the main road and the climb is super steep and the path is terrible haha. The people said the missionaries haven't visited them in at least 4 years, which is like an eternity in our area. Basically everyone in Juayua has talked with the missionaries at some point in the past 6 months, so 4 years of no contact with misisonaries for a whole village is nuts. We've only talked with a few of the families in Los Anisales so far, but they've been super positive and friendly so far, so we have a lot of faith that our hard work and sacrifices to go deep into the mountains are going to pay off.

We set 2 baptismal dates this week, which is honestly a miracle for our area. One of them is our friend Josué, he's 11 years old and has been taught by the missionaries but has always been scared to commit to baptism. This week while we were teaching him we found out he has a fear of water, which makes a lot of sense cuz he understands the doctrine and importance of baptism super well but has always had a weird hesitancy. We took him to the church and showed him the font and practiced with him, and he committed to a baptismal date for the 14th which is super awesome. Our other friend that committed to a date is Dayana Beltran. Her dad Ernesto was a member 10 years ago, but his current wife and his 2 daughters had litetally zero knowledge of religion. We'd had a bunch of lessons with them and didn't think they were really progressing, but out of no where Dayana starts telling us that she has a dream to serve a mission, and that lesson we invited her to get baptized and she committed to the 21st of this month.

This happened Saturday night right after we had started our fast for Sunday, so it really felt like a blessing straight from God. I've never liked fasting or really had a testimony of fasting haha, but I'm starting to believe in it a little. The 3 fast sundays I've had so far on the mission have been the easiest fast sundays of my life, I basically forget I'm fasting, which is basically the opposite of what it used to be at home. Fast sunday was a day of suffering and hunger but now it's a day of blessings straight from the Lord haha.

Anyways, was a great week, I'm loving the missionary work and the grind to improve myself each day in all aspects, in my Spanish, in my teaching skills, in my own personal testimony, and my relationship with God. I think I can say I've never been happier, truly happy, than I am right now. I'm expecting it to get harder, but so far it's been awesome.

Wow that was a long email haha but hope everyones well, I'll respond to any emails

Va pue!!
