Qué pasa everybody,
It's been a great week, felt the Spirit a lot, my Spanish is progressing good, and we've just been preparing to get out to the field. I leave tomorrow morning to fly to the San Salvador airport, and I'm super hyped to see what life in the field will be like, cuz I feel pretty confident in saying it will be nothing like the mtc haha.
We took this assessment called the E.I. this past week that just measures your Spanish fluency and I got a great score on it and a lot better than I was expecting, so that was very encouraging. I'm still expecting to get out to El Salvador and be completely lost and confused for the first little while, but it's all just part of the process of learning the language. Also I was able to do a practice lesson in Spanish this past week with my Papa and Nanny, and it was good to get to see their faces and talk to them in español.
I was also able to give two priesthood blessings this week, one to a sister in our district and another to my companion. I was kind of hesitant to give any blessings because I was worried I wouldn't have the words come to me and wouldn't say what God needed these people to hear, but I had faith it would work out and I gave the blessing to the sister. Right after I gave the blessing to the sister in our district, my comp asked me to give him one as well, and the words did come to me both times and it reminded me of the power of the priesthood. It was crazy because right before I gave each of the blessings I really had nothing to say and thought I would just completely blank, but right as I started the blessings I was able to get in tune with the Spirit and be a mouthpiece for the Holy Ghost. Also, our district sang I'm trying to be like Jesus for a musical number in our sacrament meeting this past Sunday, and our whole casa of boys sang Brightly beams our Fathers mercy for the Mexico ccm devotional. Both of them went great and were cool experiences.
Over this past month, my Spanish has improved a ton, but what's probably even improved more is my testimony. Before my mission I thought I had a pretty good testimony, but looking back it's grown so much. To be completely honest, I essentially never took time for personal scripture study, I never prayed, and the only time I personally gave to God each week was my 2 hours at church. I was doing these things not because I didn't believe in the church or out of spite, I just looked past them and thought I had better things to do with my time. The main reason I decided to come on a mission is because I wanted to get nearer to God, as well as bringing others nearer to God. I invite each of you to give time to get nearer to God yourself, whether that be remembering to speak with God through prayer when you wake up or go to bed, reading a chapter from the Book of Mormon, or doing whatever else you personally feel inspired to do. I promise you will notice your faith growing as you sacrifice this time for the Lord, because it has happened for me.
I hope you guys are doing great and nos vemos.
El campo blanco está ya para la siega.
