Baptisms of Dayana and Alejandra

Image
Monday September 29, 2025 Subject: The pupusas never get old  Cómo han estado todos??  Another great week in Juayua, El Salvador. Yesterday we had the baptisms of Dayana and Alejandra, the 2 daughters from la Familia Beltran. It was super awesome to finally see them get baptized because we've been working so hard with them for about 2 months and there have been so many times that Satan almost stopped them from getting baptized, but yesterday we finally saw them enter the waters. Now the goal is to get all of them in the temple and help them have an eternal family, but its definitely going to be a challenge and take a lot of effort. Also, we set a baptismal date this past week with our friend Jaime. He's the guy that showed up to the church last sunday and we'd never seen him before, and then this sunday he came to church again, and if all goes well he's getting baptized this next sunday October 5th. He knows a little english so hes been practicing with me a little bit a...

El Milagro de La Familia Beltran

Monday September 22, 2025 Subject: El Milagro de La Familia Beltran Cómo estamos everybody, If I did my math right tomorrow is my 100th day on the mission, and holy its flown by. Its been nothing like I couldve imagined, but its been absolutely awesome. The first few days of the week were pretty average nothing special. The finding was getting harder and our references were running dry. I think we've gone 7 of the past 10 days without water in the house, but today we got it back, and it felt like Christmas man. I will never take running water for granted ever again, I've learned my lesson haha. But these past 2 or 3 days have been awesome. Saturday night we had another lesson with la Familia Beltran, and holy it was powerful. The dad is a member but has been inactive for ten years, and then theres the mom and the 2 daughters who arent members. We were gonna baptize the 2 daughters this past sunday, but we changed it to this next sunday cuz we want them to feel more prepared.  W...

Mid September 2025 - Colby has been in El Salvador for 6 weeks  Email from Tate to Colby... Hey what’s up. What has been your most spiritual experience in the mission field been so far? And what has been the funniest experience in the mission field been so far? The funniest thing that has happened to me is doing the Walmart prank. The most spiritual experience for me has been going to seminary with Max because he is good at bringing the spirit. By the way the Rams are 2-0. Hope you’re doing good!  Love Tate Colby's response... Wassup Tate qué lo que? The most spiritual experience so far has probably been testifying of the First Vision in spanish, of the Book of Mormon, and of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Just seeing how deeply these messages can touch peoples hearts is crazy. There have been so many times when people just start tearing up from hearing this message its super cool to see, but one time in particular was with my boy Jonathan that I baptized about a month ago, he...

We don't have water but we have the Living Water ☀️

Tuesday, September 16, 2025 (Pday pushed back a day for El Salvador Independence Day 🇸🇻) Subject:  We don't have water but we have the Living Water ☀️ Qué lo que how is everybody? Another week went by, with a lot of highs and lows as far as the missionary work. We havent had water in the house 4 of the past 5 days, and we can live without it, but more than anything its just annoying. At this point I just want them to give us an outhouse, cuz at least that would work all the time haha. You dont realize how many things you need running water for until you dont have it, but we can't do anything about it so it is what it is haha A week ago we set a baptismal date with Dayana, and then this past week we set another date with her sister Alejandra, and if all goes well they'll both get baptized this upcoming Sunday. Their whole family came to church this past Sunday for the first time, and it was super awesome to see them all at church. We've been teaching for them like a mo...

Hidden Village in Las Montañas, Visit from Elder Casillas

Monday, September 8, 2025 Subject: Hidden Village in Las Montañas, Visit from Elder Casillas   ¿Qué lo que everybody??? It was an absolutely solid week, honestly probably the best week of the mission so far.  We started the week off with a 2 day conference with Elder Casillas of the Seventy. The conference was so powerful I don't even think I can describe it adequately. When we first got news a week ago that a special visitor would be coming, we all thought it would be an apostle maybe even President Nelson haha. And when we found out that it was gonna be a seventy we were all bummed haha. But after that conference I can say that the opportunity to talk with and be counseled by any individual called of God is a super special privilege. I had never even heard of Elder Casillas but he spoke with power, authority, and the Spirit. Throughout the whole meeting we could just feel the Spirit coming like waves, everything he said was exactly what we needed to hear and what we needed t...

A Lot of Rain ☂️

Image
Monday, September 1, 2025 Subject: A Lot of Rain ☂️  Wassup everybody, It was a solid week, went by super fast but also super slow haha. We had a ton of rain this week, and when it rains in El Salvador it RAINS. The streets straight up turn into rivers and everyone goes into their houses because it's pretty dangerous. I think it was like Wednesday or Thursday, but we were way up in the mountains around San Juan, it was like 6:30 and already getting dark, and the rain was coming down super hard. We were waiting on the side of the road until a pickup came, and we got into the back of it and started driving down the mountain and going into the rain at like 40 mph.  It was like a 15 minute ride of just getting absolutely pelted by the rain, it was so bad haha. I had a little umbrella that I was holding like a shield in the back of the pickup but it didn't help at all, it was getting bent in from the wind and rain and we got completely soaked. My comp had a jacket but it didn't ...
