Another week in the books, the time just keeps flying.
"And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain" - Matthew 5:41
Cool story: La Familia Cosme, that we're planning on marrying and baptizing, live in this place called Tres Puertas and to get there it feels like you're climbing Everest, its just straight up for like a mile. So Wednesday, after walking up this massive hill, visiting the family, and coming all the way back down, at the very bottom of the hill we passed by this lady carrying a huge sack filled with water and we decided to help her. We asked her how far away her house was and she said it was super close just around the bend...
I kid you not we walked for another hour straight to get to her house in the middle of nowhere 😀 And the miracle is that Sunday she came to church ‼️ Sunday morning when we passed by her house for church, she changed her mind about 5 times in 3 minutes if she wanted to go or not, but she ended up coming and thats all that matters haha.
Wednesday, we were up in the mountains in San Juan and there was this pastor on crutches across the street, and he started yelling at us to come into his house. We went in and he set out some chairs and started preaching to us. Every time we read a scripture he made us stand up and sit down, and then out of nowhere he just started slapping his bible and he did it about 30 times straight, and we just sat there and watched trying not to burst out laughing. He finished his sermon by stretching out his hand and giving us an apostolic blessing or something like that, and in his farewells he told us who we resembled most from the Bible. He told my comp that he reminded him of the prophet Elijah, and he told me that I remind him of Cain. Of all the people in the bible he gave me Cain... the guy who murdered his brother
Thursday we helped la familia Cosme with some "yard work". Which for them is climbing way up into the trees, chopping down huge branches that come crashing down, and then we machete it up into smaller pieces and they use it for firewood to cook and light the house and all of that. Its crazy how good our lives are and we dont even realize it, cuz this family does all of that just to be able to have light and cook.
Supposedly it was halloween this week but I had no idea haha. But the next 2 days was el dia de los muertos and that was super cool to see all the people in the cemetery painting the gravestones and making flowers. It was literally like Coco with a band and everything.
Lastly, we went to a evangélico church Saturday night and that was super crazy. All the people were super cool and friendly, and then the meeting started and they just started yelling and screaming and crying for about 30 minutes straight. It was honestly hard to watch how sad they all were when the gospel is supposed to be the good news and glad tidings of great joy. They're good people that are looking for Jesus but are looking in the wrong places
Super long email but hope you were able to read some of it. Write me so I know how youre doing and hope everythings going awesome for you guys
